Bharara, Yates tamp down expectations Mueller will bring criminal charges

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates and former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said Wednesday that it will be difficult for special counsel Robert Mueller to prove criminal conduct in his probe into possible coordination between the President Trump's campaign and Russia.

“I know a lot of people are sort of putting all their hopes into Bob Mueller. And I’ve got tremendous confidence in Bob Mueller,” Yates said in a joint interview with Bharara at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit in New York, according to The Wall Street Journal.

“But the fact of the matter is, he’s going to determine whether there’s proof beyond a reasonable doubt that felonies were committed, that crimes were committed that can be used for prosecution or impeachment," she added.

Bharara emphasized that Mueller's investigation is intended to "find out the truth and apply the law and facts fairly" and said that he could ultimately decide against bringing a case.

Yates and Bharara are preparing liberals for the inevitable... The Trump-Russia Collusion fantasy is going NOWHERE.

Sadly it should....into the conspiracy itself, to take down a sitting us president.

Getting info from mil/intel analyst who did a lot of legal work.

Totally convinced the Mulehead team is working on Lynch, Comey, but I doubt Cankles as per my conversations with Bannon.

My guess? Mueller and crew HAVE to get their pound of flesh to make it look like they didn't just waste tens of millions on a fishing expedition. They will charge Manafort and/or Flynn with some “process” violation. Then they will release a scathing report where they basically throw tons of innuendo and speculation at President Trump and say he probably guilty of major crimes, but he was so good at covering his tracks they just didn't have quite enough to indict. Basically try to give democrats as much ammo as they can, without actually doing anything...

The expedition has done its job.

Attention and resources were directed away from the crimes of the Obama administration. They made enough noise to dwarf their crimes, and make it possible for attention, evidence and the criminals to leave the room and gain distance.

I will never under any circumstances vote for Burr again.

His committee is by its silence encouraging this witch hunt.

He is a swamp critter; not a noisy loud mouth like McCain, but a silent snake in the grass.

And I have voted republican for more than 60 years.

Bharara managed to do his bit to add to the investigation.

Agree totally - - everything else is simply distracting, useless noise to give MSM a bone to worry

BTW, source says NO ONE inside Mulehead’s investigation is leaking-—this was also a story earlier this week.

These people are LIBS now starting to worry—targets talking about their upcoming legal options!!

What “expectations” Did the lefties really delude themselves that much?

Yes, big time. If you read any comments sections of articles, or response to tweets there are many "you just wait until Mueller unloads on Trump" or such. They really expect Trump to be perp walked &/or impeached.

If/when nothing comes from this sham investigation, there will be conspiracy theories that Trump paid him off or some other BS,. That Trump is really guilty but somebody got to Mueller. They will never accept anything short of a lynching.

“But the fact of the matter is, he’s going to determine whether there’s proof beyond a reasonable doubt that felonies were committed, that crimes were committed that can be used for prosecution or impeachment,” she added.

Bulls**t. Mueller is going to dig into some obscure corner of Manaforts’ activities and find some underreported tax something from 2007 and indict him on perjury when his recollection from June doesn’t match his recollection from October. After the indictment is issued, Mueller will die in some accident, a new prosecutor will be appointed, the investigation will have to start all over again, and by 2023 a completely implausible report will be issued. There is to be no end to Mueller’s investigation.

We knew there was nothing. Trump knew there was nothing. The dems knew there was nothing. That was not the plan.

The dems had planned on Trump being a hothead and firing Mueller. That was the trap. They would then go for real impeachment.

Good thing Trump didn’t fall for it. Good thing he recognized it for what it was and didn’t follow the cry of a lot of FReepers who were screaming “fire him!” That was what the dems were wanting....and Trump knew it.

What? I thought these Rat lawyers specialized in manufacturing "evidence".

C'mon Mueller, don't let down your Trump-hating supporters!

Hmmmn.

I understand your statement, but I see no evidence that ANY DNC-democrat-bought liberal lawyer has ANY form of morals, ethics, or honesty. And I see very few Washington bureaucrats with the morals, ethics, and honesty needed to tackle the long-running Clinton-Obama crime network of collusion and coordinated coverups. The Clintons have been corrupt in public and in private since their 1992 arrival in Washington.

Mueller has hired 16+ dnc-approved and supported lawyers for one reason: Get Trump, his family, or ANY of his past empoyees on SOMETHING. Anything.

I do not share your belief that anyone formerly in the top DOJ-DOD-FBI-NSA-White House positions will do anything but ignore democrat crimes. And, with the recent takeover of the White House staff and information by Washington insiders promoted by Obama, I do not believe it has really changed.

I tend to agree with you.

There is a serious investigation of ex key (maybe some not so ex) players for serious crimes of which they are clearly and unambiguously guilty.

Serious jail time is attached to their activities.

The the players under investigation are serious jerks who will not evoke any public sympathy and nature of their crimes will be indefensible and outrage the public.

The results the investigations will help further the Trump Agenda, which is why Sessions is focusing on them.

Lots of win with little down side risk and the fallout will tarnish the untouchables who pulled the strings like Hillary and Obama enough to limit the damage they can do going forward.

The interesting speculation on just how much overlap there will be in the various scandals brewing such as the Awan Brothers, the DNC leaks, the FISA spying, IRS issues, and the amazingly broad and unending spectrum of Clinton's scandals.
