Did he park it near those jet fuel tanks?
Today I read that he'd put a few holes in some fuel storage tanks on the other side of the concert area. There was no resulting fire or explosion. And, it's not clear if those were intentional shots or the outer area of the spray and pray. But, if his car was anywhere near there, it would fit in with your suggestion.
They were intentional shots. If you look at the hotel on Google earth you can see that his two shooting locations in the suites were one covering the concert venue and the other one directly aimed at the fuel tanks.
With the sheriff hinting at accomplice possibility, I am wondering if a second person was supposed to move the car over by the tanks and detonate it and chickened out or something, thus forcing Paddock to try and take some pot shots at the tanks.
People, his car, if we’re to believe the feds, was in the Mandalay parking lot which is on the opposite side of where he was and the tanks. It would have taken forever to run down the back stairs 32 floors, out the back, across the street and find his car that the valet parked. And remember to have a second set of keys. Then, in all the chaos, plow his way through emergency vehicles and people back around and blocks over to the tanks and then set it off with no one seeing him. And somehow get away before it blew.
