I disagree. If they are going to manipulate the electorate, then we need to assign a monetary value to their propaganda, and fine them through the Federal Election Commission.
A few billion dollar fines later and I dare say they will stop trying to manipulate the public's politics with their monopoly access to the broadcast system.
Do you support the Fairness Doctrine for talk radio?
I didn't until this last year, but that's because I didn't understand the situation as well as I do now. I appreciate Rush and all his efforts, but if we can trade "fairness doctrine" for talk radio for "fairness doctrine" on all the Television broadcasting systems in the nation, then that is a deal we should jump at.
Most of the public is manipulated by television. Networks reach hundreds of millions of people every week, and talk radio probably does somewhere around 3% of that traffic.
It is more important to the nation that the Television monopoly be broken than that Rush continues to make a good living at what he does.
The Fairness Doctrine would only apply to talk radio. It wouldn’t apply to tv.
