I suppose that could be true for some...but not for "Veterans For Peace".

The ones you see who are not Vietnam Vet era try to dress like they are (you can spot them a mile away) and if they were in the military (always pays to be doubtful with them) they were either discharged in some way other than the usual honorable, never served in actual combat, or were detested by the people they served with.
That’s my take. To me, the Sixties era fatigue jacket is a dead giveaway. Kind of like a stupid stereotype.
As I said, there was one elderly gentleman who I conversed at length with on one occasion, and he seemed like his heart was in the right place, but...was wrong in his approach, IMO.
But of the dozens I have seen, we were usually not in a position to “mingle” with them.
