The man who unleashed hundreds of rounds of gunfire on a crowd of concertgoers in Las Vegas had two accessories that could have allowed his semi-automatic rifles to fire rapidly and continuously, as if they were fully automatic weapons, officials said.

Though legally and widely available, the so-called "bump stocks" have attracted scrutiny from authorities and lawmakers in recent years.

Two officials familiar with the investigation told AP that Paddock had two bump stocks in his hotel room.

"By holding the pistol grip with one hand and pushing forward on the barrel with the other, the shooter's finger comes in contact with the trigger."

wtf? shoot a hundred rounds out of an AR-15 then try "pushing forward on the barrel" with your hand and sees what happens. I'll tell you what happens - you pull back a hand full of blisters.

I’m waiting for forensic reports on types of rounds fired. 2 windows suggest different weapons, rounds, and/or shooters.

This morning said took an hour to breach room one they reached the floor. Could something have been missed?

Bump firing is going to be outlawed for sure. It wasn’t anything more than a range gimmick, useless in real life, but adding it to a tripod made it very effective.

Good theory. I’m not ready to accept fbi work yet. They are incompetent too often lately.

I think everyone is missing the real problem, we need Background Checks for anyone going in to a Hotel above the 1st floor. The very idea that these greedy casino hotels offer prime shooting places for crazy people is ridiculous. Background Checks to make sure no bad people go above the 1st floor in any building will fix this problem.

Jeez, what a stupid thing to ever make... the required forward pressure to do this would make any sort of accuracy nil... the tripod probably helped some, but this entire thing reminds me of putting bubble gum cards in your spokes to make engine sounds...

These things should have always been illegal.... Almost certainly will be from now on.

Probably correct. I never had one, never wanted one. They look kind of fun, but have zero practical use. Accuracy has to suck.

How does it work with a tripod if the firearm is “bumping”? I thought his intent with the tripod was to pick off targets
