And when? Some people who are attracted to extremist ideologies run through several before settling on one they really like.

He wasn’t against Islamonazism. He just didn’t want them in his country.

He studied al Qaeda's tactics. He imitated them. He even admired them in a way. But so far as I know he saw them as the other side.

He was like Nazis who found things to admire in the commitment and fanaticism of Communists (or Communists who admired the drive and courage of Nazis). I get that some people are going to say that he was a leftist (and that the Nazis were too), but the guy who writes pages and pages attacking "cultural Marxism" and kills scores of young socialists saying "Today you will die, Marxists!" doesn't really count as a leftist either.
