If only someone had their Kel-Tec all would have been OK.
You gotta be kidding me.
To: davikkm
Apparently not. But either way it would have been no different for the victims in this case.

And how would those people who did bring pistols with them hit this lunatic?

So was the 32nd floor 300 yards away. A ccw would have done zero good in this case. W already did this once this morning. 😡

It doesn’t matter, of course, but it at least ensures that the single common thread to these mass shootings stands - it was a gun-free zone. ;-)

Gun Free Zone is not really relevant when the shooter is shooting from 32nd floor window. Was this a legal a gun free zone? Nevada laws are pretty specific about this. Was this on private or public property?

Irrelevant. Every member of the crowd could have been carrying and it would have been totally ineffective against a shooter on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay with a rifle. The cops did a decent job of getting to shooter, but his full auto and large cache of ammo allowed lots of rounds to be fired into the crowd before he was located and neutralized (self neutralized as he had a video camera monitoring for the imminent arrival of law enforcement).

Gun Free zones are always the target of these attacks and at big festival concerts they search every attendee for weapons.
They were sitting ducks, unarmed and no way to defend themselves.
To: davikkm
This is why we need good guys to be packing. If bad guys have fully autos, the good guys should have something to neutralize them.
Another sad case of no armed good guy closeby to prevent the bad guy.

Which is why he was on the 32 floor of a nearby hotel.
Besides no one apparently could see where it was coming from. You kinda have to know where the attack is coming from to hide and defend from it.

Exactly. I generally agree with pointing out how frequently these things occur in gun-free zones, but this case is very different. Even if someone on the ground had a rifle in their possession that could reach the shooters location, the risk of missing him and hitting potentially hundreds of other people who could have been nearby behind the mirrored glass would have been far too great.

There is little chance, at the distance from the Mandalay Bay from the concert venue, that any of the spectators from the concert could have returned fire. It was a barrage from a sniper that just picked off so many, and reaction was somewhat delayed, because at first it was confused with fireworks.
Throw enough lead into a group of people, somebody is bound to get hit or suffer various degrees of gun shot wounds.
