Rodguy, I think I tracked down the “29th Floor Shooter” mixup.
On the Scanner Video...~1.5 hour version...
Very early on, an officer checks in from floor 29 of the Mandalay. Says he plans to proceed upward, with a team of 4. Says he has audible contact with the shooter, somewhere above him, close.
Dispatch, stressed, reads back, “Floor 29, team of 4, moving up” or some such.
A bit later the same officer checks in saying, he’s on floor 32, along with the shooter.
A bit later, he checks in again, seeming to indicate that he is back on 29, with one casualty. Both he and the dispatch are not quite in sync with each other at this point. Further, the officer doesn’t really explain the casualty until a bit later.
Things have really heated up by this point. You have brass trying to set up at CP, you have a lot more officers checking in with casualties, both civilian and some Le. You have somebody on the network inadvertently keying their microphone, stepping on a significant number of Transmissions.
The officer reports back in from floor 32, apparently indicating that his team is about to make a move on the shooter.
This does not actually take place, but somewhere in there, we get to what I believe is the root, of the floor 29 shooter reports. The officer in charge of the team mentions that the casualty he reported earlier is a hotel security guard who approached the shooters door and who was then shot in the knee.
Apparently, the team of four moving up through the hotel, linked up with the wounded security guard, and the exact details of that situation became garbled, and generated reports of a shooter on floor 29.
Different subject. Shades of Nixon and Watergate. There’s a fair-sized gap in this scanner replay video, a period of absolute silence, during which the graphics which had been displayed on the video from the very start are also missing in action. This Gap seems to coincide with the general time frame when the SWAT team blew the door and made entry.
I don’t necessarily have a problem with a decision by law enforcement that security needs are best served by blacking out certain Communications. If this is the way that the video posted on YouTube was uploaded, if law enforcement imposed to blackout on the scanner stream, fine, but...
That doesn’t explain why the videos graphics also disappeared during that time frame. It looks as if the video was altered after it was uploaded to YouTube. If so I have to wonder if there’s any connection between that and the numbers of videos that are just disappearing from YouTube enough that I’m not the only one to notice it. It’s being commented on in a number of places. The strangest thing of all, videos I know that have been deleted, are ones that specifically support the mainstream storyline. I could see disappearing all of the fourth floor muzzle flash videos for instance. I do not understand why 32nd floor muzzle flash videos would disappear.
Makes sense about floor 29.
That still leaves fourth floor. I was told there were screens on the window by a pretty good source. I wonder if fourth floor is in play or not? There is that video that purports to show bursts coming from a lower floor supposedly the fourth floor.
I hate doing this stuff when you are not on the scene and some stuff is third or fourth hand seldom reliable.
