A history buff in Texas shelled out some $600,000 for a fully functional World War II tank -- but now that it's parked outside his multimillion-dollar home, it's ruffling feathers in his neighborhood.
Attorney Tony Buzbee of River Oaks said he bought the tank overseas last year.
Took a year to get here, but now its on River Oaks Boulevard, Buzbee told KHOU Houston. This particular tank landed at Normandy. It liberated Paris, and ultimately went all the way to Berlin. Theres a lot of history here.
However, the homeowners association sent him a letter saying the tank impedes traffic and causes a safety issue and serious concerns for neighbors, according to the report.

“Get Off My Lawn!”
?? yes, and ??
That is the photo from the article. M4 Sherman
River Oaks is one of the ritziest areas in Houston. I ride bicycles through their occasionally. No doubt the homeowners association is upset because the whole area looks like a manicured seldom-played country club. The liberals in the area, though outnumbered, are “limousine liberals” who would smugly vote for Hillary. Remember, the city of Houston has a lib mayor.
This is neighborhood in Houston.
all M4A4's that saw combat were lend lease so he may want to check it's provenance
Houston is bad? I knew about Austin, but not Houston.
No HOA means chickens and pigs next door and/or multiple families living in one house.
about half black, with a lot of Katrina “refugees”
a very liberal mayor.
Better than dealing with a tyrannical homeowners association.
“Trading for the uniforms I can understand. But the tank?”
AMEN!
Is that the model that had radial airplane engines? A book I read on earlier models said they were always fouling spark plugs because they were run at low RPMs.
(Calling all Treadheads)
Fully functional? I bet no neighbor is going to mess with him.
Amazing that it was at Normandy. Incredible WWII memorabilia.
Sheriff: Did you just call me a Pussy Communist?
Now what scares off a mob, a "Beware of Dog" sign, or a tank? I'll take a tank on the block as the better bet. I would have no problem with a neighbor having a tank.
When deployed to Bosnia, we found plenty of WW2 relics stored in various weapons depots to include Sherman’s, M36’s, and M18’s.
The “Krajina Express” is one example of the M18 being used in the fmr Yugoslavia.
“Safest neighborhood in town.”
Safest until that thing goes off... then half the neighborhood is gone. The remaining half, however, should be safe. For now.
It also means a nosey neighbor and the associations lawyers can’t forclose on your house cause they don’t like your landscaping. No exaggeration. It happens every day in Texas. Home owners associations are a constitutional abomination.
“Bottom linenever buy a home with a homeowner association in the fine print.”
No truer words have ever been written, because you can guarantee that some worthless a$$hole will get himself elected president of the HOA and go about trying to impose his personal tastes and will on everyone else. And he will be a Liberal!
I need to look into this. I’m pretty sure my HOA says I can’t park an RV, but no mention of a tank. Whee!
