“So, even CA GOP expect taxpayers in KS pay extra tax so they can deduct their higher state and local taxes.”

Sheer ignorance.

I’m starting to realize the reason it abounds to such an extent on this site is that almost no Freepers ITEMIZES their returns and file a Schedule A.

People: No taxpayer anywhere is subsidizing a CA taxpayer (especially) or any other taxpayer.

Everyone who itemizes, no matter what state they reside in, will lose under this proposal.

If a CA taxpayer is forced at the barrel of a gun to pay $20,000 in Federal Income tax, and a Oklahoma taxpayer making exactly the same salary is forced to pay $21,000 in Federal income tax...How the hell is it that the taxpayer in OK is subsidizing the CA taxpayer?

Oh, and I DOUBT most vehemently, the difference is that great.

OK has either a sales tax or an income tax or both. EITHER of them is deductible for the taxpayer that itemizes.

Along with their mortgage, property tax, excise tax on their boat and car etc.

CA has paid more in Federal Income Tax than it receives in all forms of federal payments/benefits. And has for over 40 years.’

And it’s all the freeloaders in the red states that benefit from that:)

Also note:

“California is the biggest high-tax state. It currently receives a $100 billion subsidy per year under the current tax code. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif) called the subsidy “critical to sustaining my state’s status as the wealthiest in the United States. I cannot abide a tax reform that would change this even if it treats all states equally. California voters didn’t elect me to achieve fairness to other states. They expect me to defend our entitlements and that’s what I’m going to do.” - One of Your “Representatives”

AND:

“Feinstein also cited a recent report published by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) showing that illegal immigration costs American taxpayers $135 billion per year as further inspiration for her opposition to Trump’s proposal. “As a sanctuary state, California has to bear a disproportionate share of this cost,” the Senator observed. “If we lose the federal deduction for state taxes our ability to continue as a haven for these immigrants would be threatened.”
