As President Trump prepares to sell his tax plan to the nation's manufacturing lobby on Friday, his best-laid tax plans have already drawn objections from some fellow Republicans who are fuming over the decision to end deductions for state and local income taxes.
The situation will pit the White House against members of Congress from states that pile high income taxes on top of what the federal government takes from paychecks.
High-income Californians, for instance, pay as much as 13.3 per cent of their income to the state in addition to their federal taxes. New Yorkers can pay up to 8.82 per cent.
Just seven U.S. states have no personal income taxes, including Texas, Florida and Nevada

If you’re making an unfair and inequitable tax code more fair, it is almost inevitable that someone’s taxes will go down and someone’s will go up when the process is done. Nobody who has been getting away without paying their fair share has any right to complain when they’re finally sent the correct, fair bill. You’ve been able to pocket a lot of cash along the way and no one’s asking for you to give anything back you were able to get in previous years.
Your statement is lacking in one important aspect...if you had inserted the *Federal* as the second word your statement would be entirely accurate and correct.
But if they dont then they are screwing me over more...
Once again,an important omission (or vagueness) to this part....it's not the *Federal* government that would be screwing you over,it would be the voters of your *state* who've done so.
If the deduction for state income and/or sales taxes are eliminated on the 1040 and that fact hurts your bottom line it's the fault of your state capital,not Washington.
Google the definition of the word “pedantic”
