If a communist writes a good children’s book, are conservatives to disregard the product because of its origin, or to celebrate the achievement?

Expect to find a semi-hidden message in works of literature written by Marxist-Leninists, whether it’s for children or adults. It’s all propaganda meant to further the cause.

The only way a communist can write a good children’s book is for said communist to abandon communistic principles. Therefore, it’s impossible for a communist to do.
