Cubs’ owner Phillip Wrigley refused for years to allow the Anthem played at Cubs games because he felt such frequency cheapened the Anthem.

To be honest, perhaps he was correct? It does, think about it.

I think PK Wrigley was correct. But in a civil war, even one with a minimum of blood being drawn so far, sides are drawn sharply and some actions take on meanings beyond their rational explanation.

The Anthem in the special case of war is rendered almost meaningless when the state of war becomes perpetual.

A review of how classical Athens became a democracy and then engaged in endless wars is no longer considered desirable in education, and we pay the price.
