They missed the gross insubordination.

The Lt. should hope he gets away with a few years in Leavenworth, forfeiture of pay and benefits, and a Dishonorable Discharge.

To tell the truth I never served, but I still have an opinion.

Bust his butt back to absolute buck private or whatever the absolute lowest rank is these days for Army convicts.

Let him serve the rest of his enlistment term in the Supermax.

After his term is finished he gets a dishonorable discharge, but...

Keep his butt in prison for a long time just to keep an eye on him. National security.

Just to state the obvious, gee, if something were to happen...

...that sure would be too bad...

a Dishonorable Discharge.

Dismissal from the service, pay back for USMA education. Along with the other things you listed. As an officer he can't get a DD hence the dismissal. Punitive discharge same effects as DD.
