President Trump Blames National Anthem Protests on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
The New York Post ^ | September 27, 2017 | 10:34am | Mark Moore

President Trump told a gathering of the Republican Party’s richest donors at a Manhattan fundraiser that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell could have stopped players’ protests during the national anthem by suspending former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick when he first took a knee last year.

“All Goodell had to do was say there’s rules and you can’t do it, suspend him for a couple games, you would never have had this,” Trump said, citing an attendee. “Now you have this whole thing going and it’s a very dangerous thing ‘cause we cannot let anyone disrespect our country like that.”

Kaepernick began taking a knee during the singing of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” last year before San Francisco’s pre-season games, saying “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

Trump told the crowd at Le Cirque, that the league has rules and should enforce them.

“They have a rule, you can’t dance in the end zone, you can’t wear pink socks, one guy’s mother had breast cancer and they wouldn’t let him, you can’t do anything! But you’re allowed to sit down for the national anthem,” Trump

Once you see the puppet strings, you can't un-see them.

All we have left in America is apple pie, but that probably has gluten and won't be around much longer.

It is ludicrous that Goodell and the NFL have decided to engage in a power struggle with President Trump.

Actually, it seems it all started with:

http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/29/kaepernicks-communist-sympathizing-muslim-girlfriend-believed-to-be-behind-protest/

The story behind the story is that likely all this horrible controversy was initially caused by a radical Muslim woman. What would the USA think about this if this gets out, like it should? Does President Trump know this?

Gotta admit Roger Goodell is kind of a pussy
///////////////////
No. Goodell, the son of a former liberal New York senator is a hard core leftist. He should be fired by the owners. The league has a policy book which includes a rule that says all players must be on the field for the anthem at attention with helmet under their arm. Goodell chose to let Kapernick kneel and protest even after he made pro BLM statements. If It was Tim Tebow protesting abortions Goodell would have thrown him out of the league. This is all revolutionary marxist agenda driven behavior. the elite in business, and government is creating an oligarchy and destroying all traditional American institutions. this is not spontaneous or accidental. Goodell is complicit in this.

BINGO!!! Roger “Neville Chamberlain” Goodell appeased Krapernick and the league quickly lost control of the situation. Talk about selective enforcement.
/////////////////////

No. Goodell didn’t appease anyone. He encouraged this intentionally. see my previous post on this.

Here is my (incomplete) list of demands before I consider watching NFL football:

1. Public apology from Goodell.

2. Rules for respecting flag and national anthem strictly enforced.

3. Joe Lockhart replaced with nonpartisan spokesman.

4. No politicking by players/coaches on field. That includes BLM and calls for “Unity”.

I sent emails to the NFL and my team with suggestions of #1, #2, and #4. I also added I wouldn't buy any NFL merchandise until these things were done.

Oh and I also suggested Goodell step down since all this garbage happened because he allowed these players to violate their code of conduct, which led to this leftist anti-American garbage politicization of the NFL.

On other note, these folks running the NFL have to understand basic business and that you don't mix business and politics, which can be fatal to one's business. I'm wondering if this was all calculated to somehow use this to drive a wedge between Trump and his supporters. If anything, it backfired bigly and solidified his base and then some. The left is so desperate to bring down Trump, I believe they will try anything, including destroying the NFL to get it done.

I was just pondering in my last post before I had a chance to read yours. If this was meant to be a slow-burn to drive a wedge between President Trump and his supporters, by President Trump calling it out like he did, caused this to blow up in their faces. Our POTUS is many steps ahead of these fools.

Glad you took the time to contact NFL and team. Hopefully they are getting the message.

I thought of another demand:

Mandatory civics lessons for all NFL players.

That would be an admission by the owners that they are honoring their fans (not the radical black players), take responsibility for their stupidity and have taken action to remedy the situation.

Every owner (except Jones) released an official statement a few days ago. I'm sure you could find them in a minute or so using your favorite search engine. They sound like they are in full agreement with Goodell and the kneelers and criticized our president.

Look up John Lynch on Facebook. You will find his father, the one that says “Union Tribune”. He is a local media mogul. He has posts on his page denouncing the kneelers. I am sure John Jr. agrees with him, I imagine his hands are tied by the owner.

Commish Goodell had the authority and opportunity to nip this disrespectful, unpatriotic protest started by Sideshow Bob Kaepernick in-the-bud.

I see sources claiming that the NFL Game Operations Manual specifies proper behavior for national anthem respect, and lists consequences that can be meted out for violation:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Instead, Commish Goodell, ever the incompetent, weakling libtard chose to grovel to the protest, verbally sanctioning the politicization of the NFL's entertainment.

Huge, incredibly stupid mistake.

A larger mistake will be if he keeps his current job much longer.

Too late to fix it now. It has spread all over the nation.

Also, I want to give a shout out to B.O., the bogus POTUS, for his "War on Cops", mischaracterizing Gates/Crowley, Ferguson. Baltimore, in an effort to re-ignite racial divisiveness in fidelity to Marxist/Alinsky goals to divide the people. This being the false premise that ignorant dupe Sideshow Bob cited for his heinous protest, and his little cartoon mocking Piggy Cop socks he wore on the NFL field.

One last observation. I have yet to hear a mature, reasoned response from any NFL personnel on this escalating issue. There seems a formula: drop a few clichés, make some whiny excuses.

I don't think this ends well for the NFL.

Except the ‘rules’ cited are not in the 2017 NFL rules at all. This seems to be a hoax.

As I said, national anthem protocol is reported in several places on the net to be in the NFL Game Operations Manual, not in the NFL Rules. One source:

http://time.com/4955704/nfl-league-rulebook-a62-63-national-anthem-rule/

Rush Limbaugh referenced he had a copy of the specific NFL national anthem protocol on his radio show this past Monday:

The problem is, there is a rule in the NFL that players must stand, must be on the sideline. I’ve got the rule right here. You have to be there. But rules are shmules, right? There aren’t too many rules that are enforced these days. The comment that Tomlin made that just made me curious was “protect.” “I want to protect the players from having to make a choice.” Well, making a choice is what they’ve been doing. What he wanted to do was protect the Steelers organization from being part of this. That’s admirable.

Like most sports leagues, the Commissioner can make things up on the fly anyway.

The ‘Game Operations Manual’ is not made public and there is no indication that it is mandatory or that the supposed quotes from it are remotely current.

You are claiming that NFL national anthem protocol does not exist?

Surely you are not suggesting that those who claim it exists, including Rush Limbaugh, are lying about its existence?

What a dilemma, believe you or Rush.

Swishy Commish Goodell has always operated arbitrarily and ignorantly but this will go down as his finest example, I'll wager.
