THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) A missing British hiker whose dismembered, fleshless remains were found in the hills of northern Greece was probably attacked by wolves while walking alone on a remote path, then torn apart and devoured, a Greek coroner said after an autopsy Wednesday.
Coroner Nikos Kifnidis told the Associated Press that both the womans thigh bones had been cracked open by bites and large sections of her body are still missing. He said a veterinarian at Wednesdays autopsy in the town of Komotini confirmed that no dog or jackal could have administered such bites.

Wolves in America rarely attacked humans following a decades long eradication program. Now? I wouldn’t bet on it.

Anything with teeth will attack anything else, given the “right” circumstances.

I should have put “wolves” in quotes, because the reference was to all threats.

All you Minnesotans who saw this headline a couple days ago...nothing to worry about. Nice doggies!
With higher deer population, Minn. wolf numbers jump 25 percent
Those greenies sure knew what they were doing getting wolves re-introduced all over the world. Incidents like this were totally unforeseen. Fortunately, we don't have any wolves in the San Fran Bay Area (yet). But they are working their way southward. Right now all we have to worry about is mountain lions.
To: G Larry
I knew what you mean. :)
Fewer wolves where I live but more likely to run into a bear or a mountain lion.

Most predators are highly intelligent. They can learn from experience and behavior. If they have not come to recognize humans as a potential threat from hunting, they view them as just another piece of meat.
