After student protests rocked the campus of the University of Missouri in 2015, student enrollment has dropped significantly. The student protests became national news, as a college professor named Melissa Click shoved a student journalist who sought access to cover the protests on racism.
"Enrollment at the University of Missouri continued a decline that began after campus protests in November 2015, with this fall's enrollment the lowest since 2008," the Associated Press reported last week. "Official numbers released Wednesday show the university attracted 20,870 students this fall, down 12.9 percent since a record set in 2015."
"Missouri did slightly better than expected in attracting new freshman but the total of 4,134 is down 546 from last fall and 2,060 fewer than 2015."
Mizzou, meanwhile, is spinning the numbers so wildly that they must be getting dizzy. "Preliminary figures for enrollment at the University of Missouri indicate that Mizzou students are enjoying a successful collegiate career," Mizzou proclaimed on its website in August. "MU began classes today with an enrollment of more than 30,000 students."
"This includes a freshman class of more than 4,100 students and the second highest retention rate in MUs history at 86.6 percent. The retention rate measures how many freshmen from the 2016-17 school year are returning to Mizzou."
It is a bit reminiscent of a Cold War era joke told about the Soviet Union after one of their many purges: "There are now fewer but better communists."

I hear their football program, went in the toilet too.
The football team isn’t doing so hot. Their only win this season is over Missouri State, a Division 1AA team.
And much the NFL, they can’t figure out the reason.
Mizzou is cursed by the remnants of the Jay Nixon error of 8 years of leaning too far left and the whole state suffered from it. Look at the crap in STL. He should have shut down Ferguson on the very first day and it lingered even until today as you see the crap going on in STL.
Liberalism is a disease that will eventually kill the state of Missouri or as I call it Misery....
They get what they deserve.
A fair start - from the article, freshman enrollment is 4134 down 2060 from 2015. That is a drop in freshman enrollment of 33%. As another FRiend said, let’ shoot for matching 1943 enrollment numbers.
NCAA Division 1AA football is GOOD.
They actually playoff to a National Championship every year.
Makes for a LONG season if you keep winning!
My Montana State Bobcats won the National Championship in ‘56, ‘76 and ‘84!
Any parent who pays for their children to attend a university like Mizzou is:
1. Wasting 5-6 years of their child’s life and locking them into a worthless SJW degree.
2. Wasting a lot of money and probably building up a massive student loan debt.
3. Allowing the SJW a$$holes at Mizzou to abuse their college kids in the name of social justice/
Parents are sick of spending $40,000 to have their children turned into unemployable snowflakes.
Ha!
The team that was once the USC Trojans' crosstown rival and which holds a winning record over UCLA (if you count the years when UCLA was known as California State Normal School, Los Angeles) is having trouble recruiting enough players to take the field. They were blown out in their first game, had to cancel their home opener, and now the rest of the season is in danger of being scrubbed. Yet the Glee Club, still to this day sings:
USC, we've got you beat.
Today, you'll meet defeat

Real students not those taking “Studies” are not going to Mo. Hard sciences, computer programs, programs that lead to real jobs not a career in social work will go elsewhere. Soon Mo will go the way of Evergreen State.
I have lived in Columbia for over 50 years, and spent many years employed by the MU Health System.
Morale in this town is the worst I’ve ever seen.
The rot at MU started at the top a long time ago, and has been accelerated by recent events.
It will get worse before it gets better. If it gets better.
