This whole issue is so convoluted. I think this is what the left loves. It’s Alinski at its core. The dumbest,illogical,emotionally and critical thinking skills challenged are the ones who are causing all of this trouble.

The number of police officers killed by black men in our country is an outrage.
The number of murders and rapes by black men - as a percent of their population - is an outrage.
Therefore it’s acceptable for NFL Players to scream “STUPID NIGGERS’ during the National Anthem before the game starts.

Would liberals back the above ‘protest’ where it was their ox being gored? The players should be told to show respect for the flag and the anthem or expect to be fired. Just like the players in the above example would be told...

Well, yes, people have a right to freedom of speech.
People also have a right to object to the mode and manner in which someone chooses to exercise that right.
To attack the mode and manner of that expression is not an attack on the essential right to freedom on expression.
To attack the mode and manner of that expression asks that you find another way to do it.
To many people, the mode and manner chosen for some to express their “right” attempts to PUT one point of view your protest - above all others when we are all honoring our nation with the national anthem.
To many people, the argument is “fine, but find some other way than to put yourself above everyone else during the singing of the national anthem.
Of course, the whole thing starts with a media driven ignorant false perception that a “black” man is DISPROPORTIONATELY shot, without warrant, by local police forces. The actual arrest and police shooting data do not support the media driven perception. A “black” person in an encounter with police is NOT more likely than any other demographic to wind up getting shot without warrant. Why then do so many “blacks” have the perception that is contrary to the data? How many shootings of persons of all other demographics during encounters with police make NATIONAL prime time news? Very few. Yet in percentages they exceed that which occurs with “black” suspects.
So - go ahead and have your protest - without making your protest above the status of honoring our nation, and get educated on the data minus the media driven perception.
