Actually, I think the NFL went south long, long ago. The kneeling is just the final nail in the coffin.
The NFL lost all my respect when they became apologists for thug players who raped, abused women, took drugs, assaulted people, murdered, and basically lived outside the law with rarely more than a slap on the wrist. The owners (and the police and politicians who worshipped sports) didn’t care as long as they were winning games and - more importantly - bringing in money. Most of the fans didn’t seem to care, either. But the kneeling business finally hit a nerve.
Thread winner.
Like many abusive relationships, it takes the abused partner a long time to admit the abuse. (But he brought me flowers! She cooked my favorite meal!) The desire for the little dribble of affection now and then clouds your vision and prevents you from seeing the chronic abuse.
They were only using you for your money. They never really loved you. And now they are using you for an emotional punching bag.
I used to watch some pro football because it was a good excuse to drink on Sundays and Monday night, but I don't really do that anymore.
Post of the day!
“NFL going the route of Sears/K-Mart/Kodak - suicide by political correctness of the worst kind....the good thing is that we can divorce them w/o asking the courts or church.....”
How long before the story becomes “white people don’t like black people earning a living as athelete”?
