Spurs coach Gregg Popovich took aim at President Trump on Monday, calling the United States a "global embarrassment" under his leadership after his attacks on African-American athletes who have boycotted standing for the national anthem.
Our country is an embarrassment in the world," Popovich said in a press conference in response to the president's remarks over the weekend.
The San Antonio basketball coach ridiculed Trump for stating that players who linked arms during the games were honoring the national anthem, compared to those who knelt. The players who linked arms appeared to be standing in solidarity with one another in a sign of protest against the president's attacks on certain NFL and NBA players.

Spurs are dead to me.
Of course, I was already done with the NBA because of leftards everywhere and Mark “Hillary” Cuban.
But still ... Spurs were once my team.

Consider what is being revealed here: SPORTS people are saying that putting the love of country, and showing respect for it, is divisive and embarrassing the country. Opposing disrespect shown by sports people is divisive and embarrassing. You're choosing the wrong side, the President's priorities are wrong and they-the people who play games for a living and slap you in your face while expecting your money-are right. Let that sink in.
Even continuing this debate is putting football front and center in the news. I'm SICK of everything to do with football. Let colleges be about academics, not thuggish gladiators, and let professional football begone!

Can’t wait to see Euro teams start beating the US in The Olympics, they tend to be much more fundamentally sound players, if not as athletic.

So go coach in an oppressed nation and then come back and tell us how bad the US is....
To: Truth29
Yep we are an embarrassment alright.
That is, until they need money or protection.

If I was still an NBA fan, I'd boycott the Spurs. I do occasionally look to see how the Celtics (is that a racist name? 😀) are doing.

So true; this lip service is the tribute demanded (instead of real action - which would require treating blacks as adults).

Well in fairness it IS an embarrassment that our borders are Swiss Cheese, murderers and rapists aren’t executed, young ‘minority’ men are literally allowed to run riot, we pay people not to work, open displays of treason are allowed as ‘free speech’, and petty Turd-World dictators sass and threaten us with immunity.

“We are engaged in a values war for the future of America and enemies like this coach must be confronted to show that his opposition is not a free shot and others thinking about following his lead will pay a price, too.”
I agree completely, but am at something of a loss as to how one makes this Popovich cretin pay a price.

“This is their opinion only, and like all protest, there are two very valid sides to each.”
No, there aren’t. There is absolutely no validity to the BLM, “all white devils are racist” side. They have no grounds to “protest,” and every time they do, they assert a slanderous lie.
This is not acceptable conduct. It is not protected by the First Amendment, as it is morally indistinguishable from shouting “fire” in a crowded theater.
We didn’t make them our enemies; they made us their enemies, without our participation or consent. Any way you look at it, though, they are now enemies of the Constitution.
