Some football fans are raging against players' decision to demonstrate during the national anthem.
After more than a year of Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players sitting and kneeling during the national anthem, the controversy over their protests has reached a tipping point.
More players than ever before knelt or sat during the anthem on Sunday, after Trump argued that those who did so should be suspended or fired.
On Friday, Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now, out he's fired!'"
Some NFL fans who agree with Trump showed their support of the president and their anger at players by burning their teams' merchandise.
Robert Smith posted a video of himself on Sunday burning more than $1,000 worth of Pittsburgh Steelers merchandise, the Daily Mail reported. Earlier that day, the Steelers had not participated in the anthem, with the exception of offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva, who served three tours of duty as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan before beginning his NFL career...

Public education.
That can't be repeated enough. Most NFL players came out of the college system.
These quitting fans are emphatic that they won’t be back. I imagine that later weasel words from the NFL when they feel the bite won’t fool them.
Pro football has jumped the shark with this one.
I suspect in a week or so all these kneeling or hiding teams will be back on the field standing during the anthem and will proclaim their “protest” of Trump over and that it is time to play football! All the sports shows will then declare in unison that they are so glad this is over and that we can now put this behind us and move on and that the fans forgive them, ect.
But it will be too late, and their ratings will never recover to where they were previously.
This is real grassroot.
The kneelers are a fake grassrooot, hypocrit consciousness
This whole shebang was staged from the beginning, with all kinds of blessings for Kaepernik. No way a fracking coward like this moron would do it of his own.
In 1970, the average income was $6,100 for 12 months of work. The average NFL salary was $23,000 for 4 months of work. 1970 was 47 years ago. Someone making more than 3 times more than someone else in 1/3 the time is not roughly the same, and it didn't feel roughly the same either for the average person making $6,000 a year. Since then, the gap has spread to an enormous difference.
Dear NFL,
Thank you for showing us that you are slaves.
Men stand and salute, slaves kneel and submit.
Same as the NBA and major league baseball.
For some reason, I think reality is about to hit on this whole pyramid scheme. Why would you pay $75 to watch a marginal pro-team play another somewhat marginal team play? It doesn’t make any economic sense.
The left has been destroying America by “being offended” for some years. This is the beginning of the American, patriotic right restoring America by “being offended”.
We’ve read your playbook, a$$wipes. Bring it.
I used to love college ball.
Dad had Nebraska season tickets for 30 some years. Went to every home game (minus five) from age 5 till 18.
To say I loved it is an understatement.
Then I met the players. Met the coaches. Saw that while some were great people, many could do nothing but play ball. They had zero skills doing anything else. Went to another Big 12 school, and saw that while they prided themselves on academics, they would pass ball players who could not read just to get them on the field. In short, they (the schools) eat up my tax dollars to be a farm team for the NFL and the NBA.
Most of those kids shouldn’t be in school, or rather most SHOULD have been in school since age 8, but they played ball. There are student athletes that are truly students. However, most of the “good” ones are just athletes. They have been coddled and protected since a young age and can’t function very well in a venue where they are not special.
Once they get hurt or stop playing, they are nobody. And that destroys many of them.
“NFL lost THE GAME.”
My bet is the “kneeling” fad is over. Last night both teams locked arms in unity, the cowpukes took a knee and as soon as the National Anthem started, they got up and stood for it. This was the final act in the kabuki theater of the liberal mind.
The NFL knows what happened. For their fans, it will only get worse. The bleeding needs to stop and that means the NFL will tell teams the Monday night game was the final time for kneeling during the Anthem.
I believe it’s over. But we will need to see. As for me, since the Giants suck big time, there is no need for me to spend Sunday’s in front of the TV watching a game destroyed by politics. Plus, I’m an NHL fan so I couldn’t care any less about what happens to the NFL.
Maybe they will fix it, maybe they won’t. Either way, I’m done with it and chances are good I will never watch another game.
I will NEVER watch another NFL game!
Never Again by Kelly Clarkson
Does it hurt
To know I’ll never be there
But it sucks To see my face everywhere
It was you Who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew Exactly what you would do
And don’t say You simply lost your way
She may believe you
But I never will
Never again
Put the ashes in a box and send them to the NFL.
I was shocked to learn that Kaepernick has never even registered to vote.
You’d think a guy whose #1 issue was the way black people are treated by police would take a greater interest in who becomes Mayor.
Proving once again this is all phony hype and hypocrisy. No one actually cares about anything here.
All want 15 minutes of fame, and do not care how they get it!
Well said, that is exactly what is going on. An all out assault on everything USA.
The Judeo-Christian ethics that are woven into the fabric of our society must be torched. That is what they’re attempting to do.
They will fail.
South Park had a great episode (last year?) where a kids’ volleyball team got involved with this (I think it was about cyberbullying or something like that); the stands would be packed so the “fans” could see who would sit, then they would all leave and the kids would play in front of empty stands...
Remember when players wanted to WIN for America, and fans had something to cheer for? And how it changed everything.
