Remember also that Islam means "submission" and that it was Kapernick's Muslim girlfriend who was that strong influence on him. Kapernick started all of this.
I have a theory if you'll have a listen and not get all racially butt-hurt. It goes like this.
Recent converts to any cause become fanatics. This is because they are striving to prove to themselves and others that they are sincere in their new beliefs or practices. For example: Recently out of the closet gays are some of the most aggressively flamboyant of all the gays. People that quit smoking are some of the most ardent and aggressive anti smoking Nazis. Those who become Christians in prison are fanatical about it and have to tell everyone.
(side-note observation: if somebody tells you, "have a blessed day, nine times out of ten they are ex convicts or members of alcoholics anonymous. It just seems to be a particular phrase they all have in common.)
You also find this phenomenon in light skinned blacks or blacks who have been raised around mostly white people. Often times, they over-black themselves to prove their blackness, not only to themselves but to other blacks.
Kaepernick, thanks to his girlfriend, is a recent convert to Islam and black separatist ideology. He was raised by white people. Therefore, he is eager to prove to himself and the world that he is true in his beliefs and to establish his racial bona fides.
In this case, the sickness spreads. Now others look at Kaepernick and see a martyr. In an effort to prove their racial solidarity, they follow his lead and it spreads.
I fully expect this to become the norm across the board within the next few weeks. It will spread all across society. We will see members of Congress taking a knee in the halls of power very soon, like we saw hands up don't shoot.
This culture was is far from over.
