Aw man! Don’t go weak kneed on us!

Keep your mouth shut and savor the limelight. You won.

Am I wrong or did Rothlisburger side with him by saying he is ashamed of the protest.

They threw themselves under the bus. If they want to protest the flag, let them do it on their own time, not while they’re on the time clock. Protesting isn’t part of the paycheck they get, and it should be made perfectly clear, what is expected of them while they are working. If I’d decided to protest while in uniform, and on the clock, I’d have been brought up on departmental charges, and terminated.

Oh boy.

THIS is why no man should ever be lifted up as better than anyone else. He had a chance to stand tall, and he ducked out.
Just because you are a veteran, does not mean you are a good person and above reproach.

I had to turn off Pete Carrol’s talk (Seahawks) as he was going on and on about the protests. One thing he said was something like: “These guys understand what it is to be on a team - and all the time they have to deal with thinking about the team rather than their own individual accomplishments. And sometimes you have to give up yourself for the better of the team.”

I can see his Carrol’s point.

That may be what Villanueva is thinking about - his team. I think he should go back to what probably motivated him to stand alone in the first place. Something perhaps like “YES - this is a TEAM. But it is also just football. I was with another team prior to this. A team where buddies were killed and injured for life. I am standing for THAT team, and for the flag and all that it represents.”

I have no idea if had buddies killed or wounded, but as a Ranger in Afghanistan for three tours I am guessing he did.

How does this jibe with Big Ben's comments?

These clowns are really falling all over themselves now trying to clean up the mess they've made of their sport.

The fans will respond to true courage—not political correctness.

What happened to that Army Ranger courage? Was he or his family threatened?

Sounds like he had a little pillow talk with his wife last night.

You teammates crawled under the bus fella.

Thankfully, you walked on board and jumped up and down.

They squealed. Good.

Loved it.

Another reason not to have purchased his jersey. You just knew someone would get to him, or he would fear for the loss of his job in the NFL and restate his position, although I wonder how much of his 4-yr/$24 million contract is not guaranteed.

All that purchasing his jersey does is give more money to the NFL, and it is also rewarding the leagure for strong-arming the one player who had it right yesterday.

I’m offended that he’s apologizing for their lame ass actions. They had a choice.

Obviously he’s been talked to and told that this is how it’s going to be. I’m disgusted by that.

If only the NFL had a true leader in their commissioner....sadly they are stuck with politically correct Goodell...
If he cared at all about the future of the nfl, he would exercise his commissioner status to announce that all protests are to remain outside of every stadium and field. Tell them to protest on their OWN time....the Moment they show up to play, they need to set it aside and become a PRO and ACT like those who went on before them and had much worse conditions
