Now at least 7 team owners have made public statements against President Trump and in support of Goodell’s position:

Of course, there are still around 25 team owners not yet heard from. Some of them must be scrambling to try to thread a needle of not offending anyone, but they are going to have to take a stand.

Wait, WHAT? The owners are responding to the POTUS?

How about responding to their own players and their behavior?

How does someone get to the level of billionaire NFL team owner, selling a product, yet insist they HATE their own customers, who made them billionaires in the first place?

the Great Carsini forsees that there will be many empty seats tomorrow.

Thanks for the link to the owners’ statements. Have I awakened into the world of insanity? A banana republic?

The essence of the 7 owner comments thus far is that by the President (by speaking out so in defense of the country) is the divisive one but those disrespecting the National Anthem are not, but rather of “good character” and wanting to “start a national conversation” - but they aren’t insulting or divisive - i.e. the NFL is vicariously insulting its fans. The President minced no words - and spoke in terms that jocks and their limp-wristed owners and coaches can understand.

OK NFL owners, you started the “conversation” by allowing players to use your business platform to insult millions of Americans who pay your wages. Why should you be immune from their criticism, including the President? How does it feel to be “insulted” - explain how standing up for the America is an insult? Why would you want to be fed by the hand that your players whom you allow to openly despise? Are you guys really that stupid? Are you paying them to show up, stand up and play football - or to do something else? You brought it on yourselves by insulting millions - the “forgotten ones”. This is how free speech works. You are now a participant in the political arena, you started the conversation but you don’t get to control it - don’t lecture us, let alone the President, on the phony goodness of your brand when can’t see a scintilla of goodness in this country worthy of its defense. You should have been telling your players that - not us. And you had at least one player quit the game and go to Afghanistan and die for his country after 911. You insult him too. Your brand stinks now. You go ahead and stick with your now overpaid anti-American guys, let’s see if it was the right things to do.

BTW - can’t wait to see the groundswell of race-hustling Dem politicians run to support the oppressed millionaire entertainers in the name of social justice.
