Obamacare won’t be repealed, because it can’t be repealed - or, more exactly, it can’t be repealed without ushering in huge Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate.
Members of Congress don’t know much, but they can count votes like a pimp in a whorehouse can count money.
Yes, the voters “hate Obamacare and want it repealed”. That is absolutely true.
It’s also true that they want the ability to buy insurance for pre-existing conditions, want insurance companies to be forbidden to cancel policies for non-payment, want zero payment at the point of service, want their adult children who are smoking dope in a dive in Oakland to stay covered, want their States to expand Medicaid without taxes going up, and so on.
In other words, the only two things they hate about Obamacare are paying for it, and the name.
Republicans in Congress understand this perfectly well, which is why there’s no plan.
And, not coincidentally, Obamacare (and Romneycare) were the culmination of fifty years of “reform”, all of which had the purpose of destroying the private sector or making it impossible for the private sector to function, except for boob jobs and a few other things. And, by 2009, the mission was largely accomplished.
Obamacare was merely a temporary mop-up operation, until full nationalization was possible.
And now, it is.
Like Nixon to China, Trump will propose single payer within the year. It’s really the only way out at this point.
McCain is extremely erratic, volatile and just nuts. If there's any justice in this world, Ducey will be appointing his replacement sometime around February 2018 or so.
Was this whole thing a set up by McCain’s reach-around buddy Linda? It was quite the distraction the last couple of days as time was running out. Little/no time for another option. I was suspicious that Linda would be sponsoring a bill like this when his BFF “maverick” was “on the fence”.
This lame ass McCain could have written his own bill and sponsored it. But no this is all about grandstanding against Trump. Meanwhile my premiums go up and up and up.

You’re not wrong- it’s not an actual repeal, but it is a decent step in the right direction. It sends the issue of healthcare and how to handle it back to the states where it belongs. That’s fine with me.
It does smell of good cop bad cop.
I agree, don’t fix it. Either repeal the entire Obamacare mess or let it die on it’s own. Government should not be in the business of private healthcare insurance. They should take take care of the poor, elderly if needed and veterans. The rest of society should be allowed free market options to buy whatever healthcare insurance they see fit for their situation.
As for McCain, he lost mind to whatever world he thinks he is in now. However, he may be the broken clock on this one. We know that this class of GOP officials won’t kill Obamacare. We will have to primary purge those that broke their promise and elect new ones that will kill it.
The guy is a terrible negotiator. Next time he wants something he authors pushed he will be told to get bent.

The GOPe are Uniparty assigned to the Rep. Party. Their same communist agenda has been cleverly hidden for decades. It is just now being unveiled for hard-working Americans to notice. I know I will never again vote GOPe.
