I don’t think that any of the anti-missile missiles actually work unless certain pre-arranged conditions are met, and there are only 20 to begin with. THADs and the Navy’s SM1/? are not able to reach the NOKO missiles from where they are going to be launched. And if they miss ... the next one is for real and say good bye to some place between SF and Chicago.

Kim has to get the US off his back BEFORE he takes on SOKO, thus nuking the US is his plan.

Because South Koreans are ‘Koreans’ it’s not going to be genocide then we totally destroy North Korea.

Nuking any US territory will force the US to nuke NOKO. Testing an open air weapon will fry someones’ electronics ... (things have changed since the West did open air testing) ... and force DJT to either do nothing but talk and appear weak (inviting a directed strike on the US by NOKO) or strong and wipe NOKO off the map. There is, at that point, no Third Way.

DJT either takes NOKO out or he and we get fried. Jabbering and pieces of paper are no threat to Kim. He will proceed as he plans: first the US, then SOKO and Japan. Perhaps these are his plans, or perhaps he is just fulfilling Xi’s plans.

His excuse will be that the US and France tested in the same area.

Britain, too.

In fact, in 1962, after the Rooskies broke the de facto testing hiatus, the US took over some British test facilities in Christmas Island in order to run a bunch of new tests.

And what happens when DJT does nothing? Millions die, that will be his fault also, especially if the populace of some city from CA to Chicago are included.

Hiroshima glows in the dark, even today:

Hiroshima glows from capitalism, not from the bomb.

North Korea, on the other hand does not glow. Yet.

Little Boy went into battle untested.

But he worked. The first time.

And notably Iran audaciously refused to give one inch, not even to reduce their “remove Israel from the map” rhetoric and we gave them a peace treaty. The then asked for ransom and we paid it!

That's why he's the Muslim Traitor.

Literally, pallet loads of cash to finance international terrorism, all financed by you and me!

Putin may have the same idea as Stalin did. Create a trouble in E. Asia to divert American attention from Europe (and Mid-East) where he wants to further expand Russian sphere. Since swamp creatures in D.C. are out to get him, he probably sees no reason to relent.

It is said that, during final days of Stalin, he was happy to see Korean War go on and on, while other politburo members feared that the protracted war could lead them to potential nuclear war with U.S..

I wouldn’t call that WW-III, but it was significant.

My favorite action about that time involved entire Wehrmacht battalions that joined the FFL. They kept their entire organizational and command structure. They were very successful in SEA.

EMP weapons are a ruse.

But conspiracy followers love them. It keeps their tinfoil up to date.

NK war starts, Seoul ceases to exist in 30 minutes.

I am desperately hoping that someone has a credible plan to end the North Korean menace while simultaneously enabling Seoul to continue existing. Losing Seoul would be a humanitarian catastrophe, a huge blow to the world's economy, and a great personal hit to me as well. (I have a number of friends there.)

Hence Trump’s comment “totally destroy North Korea”. To minimize non-NK losses, the hit on NK would have to be enormous - decisive hits on 50,000 sites in about 5 minutes flat.

I’m with you. Been to Seoul, and have a good ex-GF there.

Why are we risking US blood and treasure in this far away peninsula when the south Koreans are perfectly capable of defending themselves?

Do you understand why we protect Hawaii, Guam, and Japan, and by necessity have security agreements with the Philippines? It is part of our national security strategy to maintain a credible deterrence to ANY of our enemies who would happily project power into, take resources from, and control worldwide shipping through the Asian/Pacific theater. This means we absolutely must have access to secure forward basing areas, airfields, and infrastructure to support operations in friendly (or at least non-hostile) areas including ROK. ROKA is very capable as a military force, but because of the strategic value of the peninsula, we know that other nations (China, Russia, potentially more) will provide assistance to DPRK, so we need to be there to balance the scales... at least in terms of strategic support-- having some US troops on the ground, even in an advisory role, gives us the direct situational awareness required to sustain a campaign and maintain initiative and surprise.
