Wow Lizma. Thanks for taking the time to share that.

She sees history repeating itself with us right now. Obama was Batista (communist warming the pot) and now the left is hard core and she feel we inevitably, eventually we will end up in a civil war.

Because we on our side our civilized, we sometimes believe that the ugly things that have happened in history cannot happen again. Not here. Not now. We are too sophisticated for that. Too reasonable.

I used to live that comfortable way of thinking. And for many decades in America, that has been true. But humans do not change. People are still motivated by basic desires and needs and have the same pettiness.

Looking around, I've come to realize that there is a large segment of our population, with more coming, that does not have the learned way of thinking that Americans have always had. It took hundreds of years for Americans to become fully American. Then we stopped teaching basic Americanism to our children. We began importing legions who have never even HEARD what it was to be an American.

We see the results on our streets, in our schools, and in our halls of represention.

I think your woman friend is right. We are heading for huge conflict one way or another. And pur weakness has allowed it to happen, in fact even encouraged it. I see this all happening around me and feel helpless to stop it. No one man can stop psycho-history, as Harry Seldon would put it.

It does give me comfort to realize that there are others who see it too, so well met my friend. Again, thank you for taking the time to respond in such a well written manner.

She got to me. Stunned me a bit. A firm reminder that history repeats itself.

I don't think it's weakness, I think it's a sense of trust. An assumption that I would do the right and moral choice so will the other people I meet and deal with. My friends and I are finding the older we get the more that "sense" lets us down.

Now weakness of the elected Repubs, absolutely!

My grandfather's family were peasant farmers in Russia/Ukraine. They went through the Bolshevik Revolution. While screaming "For the People! For the children!" The Bolsheviks took all their food and livestock including my Grandpa's white stallion he helped birth and raised. (50 years later he was still p.o.ed!)

Grew up on Grandpa's knee learning about the horrors of big governments annnd how big unions have been corrupted. (He was a steel mill worker, who saw the union people push away from productivity to laziness.) He would tell me about how the American Steel industry was doomed to fail. He was right. He shaped much of my political views.

Then I discovered "Firing Line" cuz I liked Buckley's accent! I was 10. (My dad thought I was weirdest middle schooler on the planet but secretly loved it.) That and Grandpa sealed my political fate! LOL .
