Full disclosure: I voted for Minion in 2012, thinking Zero was the worst possible thing we could endure.

But Coulter was hawking Minion at CPAC the PREVIOUS year when there were many solid conservatives to choose from. I have never trusted her since.

As with Trump, or anyone for that matter, I don't necessarily have to agree 100% in order to continue giving someone the benefit of the doubt in view of their longer track record. Coulter's value to me is that her analyses of vast social movements and the way she often crystallizes and labels the motivations of the American left are quite prophetic. She is frequently the one who first widely popularizes a concept such as "liberalism is a religion" (Godless: The Church of Liberalism, 2006), only to see her concept swiped by many, many other commentators without attribution. Her book Demonic (2011) drew very clear parallels between the mob rule instincts of the left and the history of the French Revolution, years before BLM and Antifa hit the streets; she was developing it even before Occupy hit the streets. Her book ¡Adios America! in the year before the campaign was a point-for-point review of the ways the illegal immigration problem hads been destroying the American middle class in words ordinary people could relate to; and in my observation, that book greatly influenced Trump's opening campaign. It must gall her that she is not attributed as an advisor to him.

While it goes without saying that serious commentators may have made similar assertions in prior months or years, she has had a special gift for hammering out, packaging and popularizing her themes to a wide audience.

That said, she is terrible at picking candidates or assessing individuals and needs to stop even trying.

Her own undisciplined emotions, misleading use of hyperbolic sarcasm and impulsive snarking are damaging her worth as a predictive force and definer of the conservative "narrative", and that's a shame.
