I wonder if somebody got their kicks from messing with the “Bible-thumpers” by naming the two hurricanes following Irma the Spanish equivalent of Joseph and Mary, to coincide with near-hysteria in certain quarters over September 23?

One of the current storms out in the Atlantic is named Maria.

It's a Cat 3 and heading for the islands.

When were the names determined? I’ve never really looked at that because I’ve never had reason to be curious before now.

Or not. Tracking is hard to do accurately when a storm is early in formation
