This wasn’t Dominica’s first tango with a Cat 5 - they took a direct hit from David in 1979.
I stand corrected - David was a Cat 4 when it hit Dominica.
I read where the Prime Minister of Dominica was in his home(?) and the roof got blown off. Then it started to flood. He got rescued.
That was just about as bad as it could have been, every single inch of the island got the eye wall.
Guadaloupe had to get some serious storm surge as well.
No rest for the wicked. Yardwork, housework, storm damage repair, and I finished wiring the studios, a seven year build. Now it’s back in the trenches.
Florida peeps didn’t even get 3 days, some of em just got the grid back today, some not even yet.
Time for me to find out what Allison House can do for me besides radar. What kinda software do you animate with?
Guadaloupe got it hard, but Maria is a compact storm, so hopefully the catastrophic effects missed them.
“We have lost all that money can buy.” - Dominica PM
I can only imagine. That had to have been one of the hardest hurricane island hits ever. Only exceeded by Irma. And Dominica is much more populated than Barbuda.
We probably need to get the Navy to get some ships down there Stat.
I think our ships and rescue efforts are going to be focused on PR in a couple of days.
I’m afraid we are easily looking at a death toll at least in the hundreds on Dominica.
Dang!
