Legal status with a pathway to citizenship is NOT amnesty. So I guess that's scratch number 7 here?
1. Secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
2. End the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment
3. Enforce e-verify without exception and with severe penalties;
4. End chain migration. Entry per individual qualifications; not family ties.
5. Deportation upon contact with any law enforcement agency- federal, state or local;
6. No government benefits beyond critical emergency care(and that ought to be billed back to the home government);
7. NO "Path to citizenship" EVER for anyone who has entered the us illegally.

I would offer them a pathway to citizenship. Here’s the path: Go back to your country for 3 years. After that period has elapsed and if you wish to return to the USA, get in the back of the line and apply for legal re-entry like everyone else waiting patiently already in your country.

Correct me if I’m wrong. DACA will expire in 6 months. Anything involving immigration will have to be done legally, through Congress, subject to Presidential veto. Congress has proven unable to do anything together. If nothing passes, Trump gets to blame Congress, DACA expires, and all is well.

But General Kelley has talked him into good press instead of good policy.
Which was inevitable considering the beating he is/was getting. I'm sure it feels like a relief to get praise for working with the Dems.
