Well, a hurricane certainly put a hurting on the Houston TV market. I am in Ocala, Florida, and was directly in the path of the storm, which knocked DirecTV with rainout and even regular cable was crashing. It was impossible to see all the Cowboy game. Add half the Florida market lost to the storm to Houston’s loss, and it’s reasonable to expect a drop in viewership. It’s amazing that the Cowboys pulled a higher number than last year.

I saw some blurbs on that. Man that must have been interesting to watch. I’d almost have watched that for the comic content alone.

Is the NFL and ESPN trying to kill football?

With the new Atomic Beam light they drop it 50 feet ....... into grass.

And they hope you don’t notice the little change from the other one they dropped 50 feet onto concrete.

Shoot, don’t mow the grass for 4 weeks and drop it from 200 feet.....

Hey. I’m in Florida. In these parts, the NFL has three divisions. The NFC, the AFC, and the SEC. We watch it all.

>>I wonder if we should just agree that replay reviews don’t always settle the issue.<<

Well, yeah. And about those Barbies, I wonder whether we should just go back to having them be all blondes, — because we are REALLY interested in improving the sales of those dolls. Let’s think of even more ways to make this an interesting consumer product.

In the words of another Freeper -— “DIE, NFL, DIE!”

The second MNF game had a woman (lesbian) doing the play by play. The sideline reporter was a Hispanic dude who did the worst job I’ve ever seen done by a sideline reporter. It was parody-level pathetic.

I posted two threads about it and both got whacked.

I guess someone here is an NFL fan regardless.

The NFL got SEVEN BILLION is taxpayer subsidies.

The Cleveland Brown players demanded a video be played against racism in exchange for not kneeling.

Football needs to go. Enjoyed it, but time to pull the plug.

the nfl is no longer a sport. it’s a made for tv media spectacle. people are figuring that out.

next up for destruction; college football. the process has already begun, and you can thank the same miscreants.

I was waiting for a record breaking 109 yard field goal in the Miami-Tampa Bay game, but the NFL ruined that chance.

There’s a certain irony here. As they push this Colin Kapernick stuff, taking the side of the liberals and social justice warrior types, they turn off their biggest fans. The irony is that, while they make the social justice types happy, these liberal snowflake social justice warrior types tend to not be sports fans or football fans. So they are turning off some of their biggest fans, but they aren’t getting new fans from the social justice warriors whose approval they seek, for unknown reasons.

I'll take a stab at this one... it isn't the Pajama Boy SJW ratings they are after... it's women. They've worked hard for over a decade to build the female fan base, and it was going along pretty decently... and I think they're gambling on women to side with the sympathetic victim figures that the Left always tries to create. It may even work... those few women that have tuned in may just be happy and bring in another few percentage points of female fans.... but they are also presuming that they will not lose 10-20% of male fans, that our devotion to the sport is more important to us than the political annoyance. The sagging ratings should be quickly telling them that this calculation is wrong.

How do they score this? If I tune in for a couple of minutes, do I count as a viewer?

3. Girl sideline reporters who add nothing to the game. They don’t know anything about football, yet have become a fixture on football broadcasts. And almost every sideline reporter is a woman. Why?

I suppose they are eye candy; but this reminds me of Fox News...why are all of the anchors women?

Except for Brett Baier, Greg Gutfeld (I love his sense of humor) and a few others.

But invariably, when I turn on the station, I see an infobabe wth a short skirt and high heels prattling on. And I am a woman. It just bugs me that they are basically using women to attract viewers.

That must be what is going on with the NFL.

It is truly mystifying. You would think they'd be a bit smarter.

Perhaps someone on the board should read FR. ;) Lots of smart people here.

I'm guessing, btw, that the SJWs are too busy playing hacky sack and grabbing a latte at Starbucks to watch football. LOL!

Boomer Eiason and Chris Collinsworth ars too of the most Liberal guilt ridden people you will ever meet.

Players are Pampered millionaires who are never challenged on ridiculous and outrageous statements.

Hype and packaged lies.

The SNF Cowboys-Giants game had the lead-in of the Chiefs-Pats game on Thursday, which was a rather fun game to watch as long as one is not a Pats fan! Watching that Chief’s kid who’d never lost a fumble in college, fumble on his 1st run, and then come back to have a GREAT game, was enjoyable, inspirational, whatever. And, I still like the combo of Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth. Even if one can tell that age is beginning to creep up on Michaels’ abilities, I just like listening to the two, and with Michaels, I can be working on something and still, by the tone of his voice, look up in time to see most of the better plays.

A lot of the other current broadcast teams, including the play by play guys, just don’t measure up, compared to years past. Mike Turico is “ok”, but Joe Buck, IMO, is a mediocre sportscaster at best, far short of his Dad, and it’s generally downhill from there.

Then there are the politics, which the NFL should just simply stay away from. Lauding JJ Watts for his charity work is one thing. This other stuff - not so.

This is all from the standpoint of an occasional watcher, who rarely catches game openings, and would rather be outdoors doing yardwork, fishing, or hiking, on any decent Sunday afternoon, than watching football. If I’m working outdoors and come in for a break, if a game is interesting when I come in, I may eat a late lunch and watch for a bit. And, SNF is not bad to do paperwork or benchwork alongside, on a Sunday evening. But, that’s about it, these days. (I think I watched all of 15 minutes of the Giants - Cowboys game.)

I occasionally have a Caramel Machiato at Starbucks.

Doesn’t stop me from thinking the Left is “out there”, and the NFL and ESPN are managed by some folks who don’t have a firm grip on reality.

“:^)

Yes it is mystifying.
