Anaheim has declared a state of emergency over the ballooning homeless community along the Santa Ana River, clearing the way for the removal of hundreds of people living in a landscape dotted with trash and used hypodermic needles and lacking toilet facilities. The move underscores the growing homeless crisis facing Orange County and on ongoing struggles of communities to deal with the problem. Earlier this summer, Anaheim removed bus benches across the street from Disneyland following complaints about the homeless population sleeping on them around the amusement park.
A survey last year placed the number of those without shelter in the affluent county at 15,300 people, compared with 12,700 two years earlier. While cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco have long dealt with large homeless communities, officials in Orange County said they are still working on ways to help the growing population and coordinate resources among numerous cities.

Only problem is they will continue to move down river and the good people of Fountain Valley who been torment by a number of homeless who already set up camp there will suffer more.
Just wait until these dopers move further along into Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.
Imagine if they treated illegal immigrants this way, the furor of the media.
Yep, I’m not surprised.
I would usually make up to 3 visits to Calif., every year.
Often times it was some of the big attractions amusement parks in So-Cal, and sometimes the Central Coast ... SLO, and such. However: NO MORE. I’m afraid the Liberals have succeeded in making Calif., a third world crime filled and now add..... polluted area. This article leaves little doubt that So-Cal, is now unfit for normal living people. SAD.
They did it to themselves, and as the old saying goes...... You can’t unscramble an egg.
But you can Scratch California from your Vacation, or all around:.... GO - to - for - FUN - SPOT!

This kind of thing really amazes me, sadly amazes me, at the actions of our officials.
They think that by getting rid of bus benches, they will get rid of the homeless problems????
They really thought that is all they need to do???
I am just baffled.
Baffled beyond belief.
In 6 or so months, PDT has singlehandedly created a homeless problem in CA.
Funny, the last time we heard about such a problem was with a Pres Bush.
Guess we will have to allow LIBs to ‘run everything’ so the ugly head of homelessness doesn’t rear up again.
Look at the river going through LA...It’s mostly concrete and home to thousands as it meanders through ghettos and dilapidated former middle class neighborhoods.
CA invites them in, houses them, provides them food, gifts and prizes...Same with the millions of illegals CA invites in.
For 2 decades Orange County is going the same way LA has been going for 40 years.
Anaheim also has an issue with keeping all their illegal aliens happy and content too. On one hand all the Disneyland hotels love all the dirt cheap illegal alien labor, but they also have an issues with housing. None of the illegals can afford homes so they all live in these 3rd rate smaller hotels surrounding the area. The lucky ones live in crappy apartments, but only few can afford them. Just outside of the view of most tourist, Anaheim is crawling with illegals.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. No bench? Just lay a piece of cardboard down on the sidewalk and you’re all set.
They did the same think at LAX, downtown LA, Santa Ana, etc. Few benches anywhere outside the terminal at LAX.
They can’t put down benches because people claim them as their home and turn them into couches for pan handling. It’s that bad.
The problem is that you keep visiting the wrong parts of California. Stay out of So Cal and the Left coast and visit rural northern and eastern California where there a very, very few homeless people, just normal Americans like you would find in Texas, and spectacular scenery.
Nobody want’s to go there. All the tourist all want the beach and Hollywood and these tacky crowded expensive amusement parks. I’m trying to imagine taking a vacation to rude crowds, horrific traffic, armies of homeless, foreigners and millions of illegals that the stooges running the state invite in.
I would guess the phrase “A sucker born everyday” applies.
The area where I live in north eastern California is surrounded by four national parks: Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley and the highest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mt. Whitney. We get plenty of visitors and most are amazed by how friendly the folks living here are and how crime free it is. They say it is like America in the 1950s.

The problem of untreated human waste wherever the homeless camp or meander has led to this outbreak of Hepatitis A in San Diego. The city is now trying to tamp down the disease by hosing down sidewalks with bleach water - but what to do about encampments on permeable surfaces (soil), particularly within the watershed of rivers and streams? All well and good to demand cities provide port-potties and hand washing stations, but many of these people live like feral animals who wouldn’t make use of them anyway. Hepatitis A is highly contagious and deadly if left untreated. A single homeless person can infected countless other citizens with a well-placed cough or the hand-to-hand contact of panhandling. Homeless encampments are a serious public health and safety threat on dozens of fronts. A good place to start solving the problem is to return to the policy of the state taking custody of the mentally ill and establishing involuntary commitment (when necessary) to detox and rehab facilities for the chronically drug/alcohol addicted. And, no, I don’t buy that ACLU bulls**t about that violating civil rights. No one has the right to be a health and safety threat to another person - let alone an entire city of people.
Obviously most of the millions of naive tourist coming this corrupt state are not headed to the Sierra Nevada. You should feel very fortunate that’s the case.
Actually, I do.
I guess Disney has had enough
Democrats: Turning California’s cities into one big sewer and garbage dump.
And the liberal Democrats call this “progressive”.
Been going on for many years...Same with their bull s**t terms like “immigration reform”. For the lying leftist, that means allowing in as many foreign nationals and illegal aliens as possible regardless of consequences. It only gets worse...

Excellent point.
