Former White House strategist Stephen K. Bannon revealed in a Sunday interview that he believes it will take decades to drain the swamp of Washington, D.C.
The permanent political class, as represented by both parties
youre not going to drain that in eight months, Bannon said during an interview with CBS News anchor Charlie Rose for 60 Minutes. Youre not going to drain it in two terms. This is going to take ten, 15, 20 years of relentlessly going after it.

Will it take decades to end the corruption in politics and government?
So I guess the swamp wins.
I don’t know...
Primary a few of their asses out of office and it will quickly become self-draining.
Let’s find out what the swamp dwellers know and are holding over their head... I am betting a whole bunch of them have skeletons that were thoroughly researched before they arrived, which would explain the sudden change they seem to undergo when they reach DC.
I know I am generally a good guy but there are certainly dark and fuzzy things in my past I would prefer not be splashed all over the front page. Like the time I drunkenly puked on a girls head that picked up in a bar and then made her walk home. (because she had puke all over her!) I’d hate for that to get out.
...Bannon said during an “interrogation” by CBS News anchor Charlie Rose for 60 Minutes....
It was not an interview.
Yes, I think he’s right about this but we only have Trump for eight years.
When the inflow is greater than the outflow, yep.
Is Bannon right?
Will it take decades to end the corruption in politics and government?
Heck yeah bannon is right?
I know we live in a “want it RIGHT NOW’ world but cmon........... is there anyone here who thought this would happen in one term? 2 terms?
The swamp is fully imbedded. Its a monstrosity and its not gonna willingly give up its power. This is gonna take multiple administrations and will probably take longer than a couple of decades because I’m sure we’ll have a democratic administration sprinkled in there.
They’ve been talking about “draining the swamp” since the early 90’s.
Call me pessimistic but I’m not sure that we can ever drain the swamp. It’s too big, too pervasive, etc.
We can slow it down every now and then but the only way to eliminate would be a major upheaval - a revolution if you will. The American people are not ready for that. They only care about how many apps are on their smart phone or who’s gonna win this year’s version of “Dancing With The Stars”.
End the “BENEFITS” of the Swamp, and the Swamp will drain itself.
End the Central Banking System and it will put the Republic back on the right path.
An interrogation maybe. Bannon ate Charlie for lunch.
Who and please link was talking about draining the Swamp in the early 90’s?
Yeah, you probably shouldn’t let anybody know about that one.
The swamp is like the ocean — it is UNDRAINABLE.
The quickest way out of the swamp is to secede from it. Clean quick. People will figure that out one day.
“Who and please link...” Seriously?
Gingrich’s Conservative Opportunity Society (a bunch of House members) made many speeches during Special Order speeches. Their speeches dealt with corruption and inefficiency in government.
The Contract For America was about draining the swamp. It was never worded as “draining the swamp” but look back on it, that’s exactly what they were proposing.
In the last 90’s and through much of the 2000’s, “draining the swamp” became a lost issue - much like term limits. It hasn’t been ‘til the last few years that it has become an issue again.
If you think of this as WWII, you could make the comparison that the GOP treachery on Obamacare was akin to Pearl Harbor. It woke us up and got us REALLY angry. Or maybe, got ENOUGH of us angry enough to NOT go back to sleep if offered a sweetie from the government tit.
But wars aren’t won in a day. To stretch the metaphor, we have to hypercharge our production of warships (candidates), train and equip an army (us), and most of all, gain the will to see this through to the end.
For the first time in the last 30 years, the swamp is in retreat, but if we become demoralized and give up, they win.
I personally prefer to force THEM to secede, or maybe kick them out.
NO! That's not going to cut it.
If my toilet gets plugged, it is not going to take me "decades" to drain it. And the toilet contains the same crap that's filling The DC Swamp.
