Like the NFL, the Boy Scouts, and Target, the Miss America pageant forgets their historic audience in a chase to attract those demographics that will not support them. The pageant shows a leftist political bias even though the feminist movement has condemned such events for a half century, dating back to Betty Friedan. To some extent, the operators of the Miss America contest appear to want the approval of the cultural elite, to be invited to the right parties and clubs. The world of what was called centrism, essentially leftism with old order trappings and dithering about more vulgar leftists like Antifa, has been losing ground for several years.

The Miss America pageant may be going the way of the Boy Scouts, the mainline Protestant denominations, and the big city newspapers.
