On September 11, 2001, 2,977 Americans were killed in the largest Islamic Jihadist terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
As a spouse of a firefighter, the number 343 always reminds me of the day that Ben and I watched the attacks unfold. We watched firefighters rushing into the towers, we saw the second tower hit, then the towers collapse. Then, the chirping of firefighter alarms started. My husband looked at me and said "do you have any idea how many firefighters just got killed?" The most sober moment of my life. Many wouldn't have realized what those alarms meant, but Ben did, and I'll never forget it.
Now to the unbelievable part. Enter PC speak.
Per Suzanne Downing w/Must Read Alaska:
"The Walker Administration made a decision to remove not only the overriding concept of patriotism but to erase the emotional reaction Americans have to the horrific attack on our nation, the evil that incited it, and heroism that followed. Now its really just about community service."
"Gov. Walker has declared it September 11 Commemoration Day, a day where we as Americans reflect on the importance to our nation of freedom, tolerance, patriotism, diversity, and respect for others, and are grateful for the rights and freedoms that we hold as Americans;"
That's sounds all nice, PC, and whatnot, but completely ignores the reality of why 2,977 Americans were murdered.
I'm sorry Gov. Walker, I'm not celebrating the "diversity" or "tolerance" of Islamic jihadists that want to kill us and destroy the values of the country Americans hold dear. I don't respect them; their type of evil needs to be eradicated, not "respected."
I will spend September 11th, as many days, reflecting on the exceptionalism of America, her incredible people, those victims who died, and the heroes who not only lost their lives, but protect us every day. All Americans were attacked on 9/11, as was our freedom and our way of life. 9/11 is a somber day for me. 343. 2,977. Those aren't numbers to simply commemorate; they are people to be remembered, and it should be a reminder of who, what, and why it happened, so we can prevent it in the future.
God Bless the United States of America, her people, and all those who support and defend her.
When we started worshipping the god of tolerance and diversity we lost our soul.
It breaks my heart how the most rugged states like Alaska, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, are governmentally full blown wussy. It is sad. Come on , let’s take them back. Aren’t there more businesses there than coffee houses, breweries, and pastry shops?
Let us now forget this is the state that voted for the detestable Lisa Murkkowski.
April 19th is Patriot’s Day.
Should change the bald eagle to a chicken as the nation symbol.
Bill Walker is in the party of Bill Walker.
All he has done for most his working life is sue oil companies. He has this obsession about pushing thru a Nat Gas pipeline.
And he has the brass to run again.
I take back all the harsh I dealt on Palin - compared to Walker she was (sorta) good for the State.
First Murkowski abandons Republicans/conservatives and now this POS goes PC. Next thing you know, Alaska will go Democrat during a presidential election. Seems they are headed that way anyway.
Must be a bunch of pissed off Eskimos up there for this to happen yeah?
Great post.
Walker ran with a rat as Lt. Governor. Walker himself is a rat.
Welcome to “Everything is anything” day where radical egalitarianism is not not just suggested - it is required!
Shove it, Gov.
He’s trying not to be islamo phobic. Mass murdering and serial killing is simply a part of the Muslim culture we must be sensitive to.
