Any short wave operators on this thread? Probably the best chance of getting reports from them.

Now that's a blast from the past. Not too long ago, I pulled my trusty Grundig Satellit receiver out of storage (since 1994) and it still worked like a charm. But the shortwave bands were mostly empty. The Internet pretty much killed shortwave.

Lots of shortwavers on Zello on the Hurricane Irma channel.

That’s why it’s best to get a general coverage receiver that covers all Amateur Radio, (Ham) bands, not just the shortwave bands. Quality portable receivers can be had pretty cheap. Between about 100-300 bucks.
