Actually, exactly the opposite.

Some people are quite bigoted, whether they know it or not. I see it against the deaf from time to time. I've been approached at church by people who want the deaf worshippers moved to another spot, because their signing is a "distraction". Maybe they'd want the disabled put in a closet with a little CCTV so they wouldn't have to look at them...

Sounds like either your church caters to milk drinkers rather than meat eaters, or the pastor really needs to be doing a better job.
