I got off that plane only to see numerous aircraft on their wings. No power for the next two weeks. No showers and MRE’s.
We left everyday into town with chainsaws and water.
The airmen were doing traffic and we were cleaning up.
I got the charge of a graveyard near the Davis home and it was rough. Those trees were 150 years old.
The caretaker fed us lunch everyday. She actually put it out on the tombstones themselves. It was OK. We felt like they appreciated it. :^)
So much for the *It’s not so bad, only a little wind and rain* naysayers, eh?
Funny how all the armchair experts have never done or experienced what they are criticizing.
