You can. We loose a few people every year who drive off the road and into a river, field, lake, etc. Some aren’t found till spring. But I can usually walk away from something like that.
Well, I’ve grown up in the lake effect snow belt areas of NY, where it can go from sunny to white out blizzard conditions in a 1/4 mile.
Or if the bands come up from behind you, you can find yourself in a whiteout with no clue it was coming.
The bands are very well defined.
Freaks out newcomers.
Of course, if you go out when you know you can’t see the road, you get what you asked for.
