what is a ridge? and what does it mean that Irma is moving it backward??
This ridge is the forward edge of a high pressure system west of Irma. Usually causes rain along the ridge front where instability occurs. Pushing the ridge back simply meant pushing the rain front back at leading edge of ridge.
