The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

I think everything went dark around 2:00 - 3:00 AM.
Your link was video taken from a car shortly after sunrise. Car’s lights were on you can see the reflector tape on some of the poles.
Noticed there are no street lights on - or any others.
Probably get a better idea of damage throughout the Keys tomorrow and whether or not roads are driveable or not.

14 minute interval between radar scans from Key West now. They are ALMOST out of the eyewall, if they can just hang on a few more minutes.
Next closest radar is Miami...range increases from 6 NM to eye center, to 92, if we lose Key West.
New tornado warning, east and SE of Tampa Bay, radar indicated, moving west at 45 mph.
I don’t believe insurance would cover evacuation costs. Just damage to the property.

Checking in from Clearwater, FL right outside of Tampa. Last of hurricane shutters being put on garage and last slats being put up on lanai doors. Not sure if it will be a blessing or a curse to not be able to see outside. The idiotic neighbors behind us boarded up their home and then left their lightweight patio and pool furniture out (not even pushed against their home).
We are at about 40’ elevation (which for the area is considered mountainous and thus not in an evac zone), have a hurricane Andrew standard tile roof, and metal hurricane shutters, a generator and about 60 gallons of gas to run it.
I have a very scared 12 year old, an indifferent 16 year old, a dog who is afraid of every noise, and my parents came here from Sarasota where they had no hurricane shutters.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared.

NWS radar text says radar indicated, not confirmed. Not doubting, just asking your source on that?

Certainly not with so many lives disrupted. A good reminder. There’s also going to be a lot of PTSD. I flashed for at least five years on the spot where my car was stranded in a blizzard.
this is well east of the track..and 12z model suite has shifted back east...I think this makes landfall south of Naples even
best case for lack of total damage ..east coast nightmare of a few days ago off the table because of Cuba and west shift..
west coast spared because of high shear and the storm nudging east at the last moment
KBYX, Key West Radar, now 17 minutes out of date, but it did updtae, to 11 minutes out of realtime.
That suggests to me the problem isn’t at NWS, but between there and my provider, Allison House.

From outside the danger area, it sounds better in administrative preparation than for any storm I’ve ever heard about. Won’t make it good, but will make helping hands reach out faster.
Me too! I was glued to that Key West Southernmost Buoy cam for hours while clutching a beer and intermittently shouting “what a dumbass!” as tourists went to the wall to take selfies with the crashing waves.
The wife thought I was watching football.
