Trump was a Democrat prior to 1987. In 1987, Trump registered as a Republican in Manhattan.
In 1999, Trump switched to the Reform Party and ran a presidential exploratory campaign for its nomination. After his run, Trump left the party in 2001 due to the involvement of David Duke, Pat Buchanan, and Lenora Fulani.
From 2001 to 2008, Trump identified himself as a Democrat, but in 2008, he endorsed Republican John McCain for President. In 2009, he officially changed his party registration to Republican. In December 2011, Trump became an independent for five months before returning to the Republican Party, where he later pledged to stay.
Big Government Liberal Another Lie which Anti Trump people have created from the thin soup of Donald Trump stating the NIH worked in Britain at that time but wouldn’t work for America and his statement that we need a saftey net because we can’t leave people to die on the street.
The characterization of this as Big Government is jaw dropping since we already have a saftey net, hospitals can’t refuse treatment etc. Also POTUS is cutting federal regulations hand over foot, eliminating federal positions, eliminating duplication, returning power to the States. His tenure is a sea change in reversing Big Government.
The only people who look ridiculous are the Never Trumpers who have to ignore the truth to avoid the embarassment of admitting to themselves they are wrong.
What’s more, Trump and his dad were national fundraisers for Reagan. If he was a Democrat at some points, he was a Reagan Democrat.
