“We need a strategy to stop this in its tracks.”
Aaargh. Generations of military officers lectured on von Clausewitz IS the problem. Our enemies know this, they know our rules and our laws and now intentionally create situations in which they can accomplish their political objectives staying just short of open conflict. To escalate such situations to open conflict makes them the good guy, us the bad, and allows them to extend their victory incrementally while building coalitions and alienating us from former allies. They have been doing this to an extent since Viet Nam, and now the domestic communist insurgency known as “Resist” is using the same tactics here to circumvent the actions of the executive branch. This requires a political strategy I think— if we resort to a military strategy it must be total war, and very few have the stomach for that, especially against other Americans, even though they do not identify as such themselves.
