I lived in Houston for almost 50 years but am originally from New Orleans. When Katrina raped New Orleans I hooked up the boat and drove over to New Orleans. I got as far as Laplace but no further. The police would not allow me to go in.

Of course, being from there and knowing my ol’ stomping grounds, I got in through all of the back roads.

I do not know hoe many road in my boat over those days but afterward it was such a satisfying feeling that I shall never forget.
