WESTERN US FIRES - Live Thread
Various ^ | 9/5/17 | me

The Western US is facing cataclysmic forest fires, at least one started by idiot boys throwing fireworks in Eagle Creek area, near Multnomah Lodge, in the COLUMBIA GORGE - a greenie paradise. I-84 is closed near Multnomah Files to Exit 62, just west of Hood River.

Thanks! Note that poison oak in California can be that bright green, but it can also be dark green, red, and maroon any time during the year. You can get the urushiol oil from the leaves, the stems, AND off your dog’s coat, off your pants leg, your pack, or anything that touched the plant. I used to use Fels-Naptha soap to wash with when I got home. There are other products like Tecnu that are supposed to do a good job either preventing the oil from reaching your skin or getting it off after exposure.

That’s quite a claim. Color me skeptical on that. If that were true and word got out, it would be a scandal of incredible proportions. Proof?

I should have mentioned that it can be different colors in the Northwest as well.

Several years ago, "forest fire jihad" was a topic of discussion in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and the U.S. that talk has disappeared. Are we experiencing it? 80 simultaneous large fires over 2,600 square miles is highly suspicious.

Fire Wars - Forest Fire Jihad in America

June 17, 2013

Bill Scott, a senior fellow at ACD, warned about such a scenario last July, speaking at the ACD/EWI Economic Threats briefing on Capital Hill. An expert on aerial firefighting, he presented a sobering analysis of the devastating Waldo Canyon Fire (Colorado Springs, CO), pointing out that the striking rise Western U.S. wildfires may be caused by elements other than nature.

He noted that in spring 2012, al-Qaeda’s English-language online magazine, Inspire, published an article called “It Is of Your Freedom to Ignite a Firebomb,” which featured instructions on how to build an incendiary bomb to light forests on fire.

A few months later, Russia’s security (FSB) chief, Aleksandr Bortnikov warned, “al-Qaeda was complicit in recent forest fires in Europe” as part of the terrorists’ “strategy of a thousand cuts.”

Bortnikov spoke of “extremist sites [that] contained detailed instructions of waging the ‘forest jihad’ and stressed that such a method had proved itself effective as it inflicted both physical and moral damage, needed little training or investment and it was extremely hard for police to find and apprehend the arsonists.”

Since then, more fatwas advocating that “Fire is cheap, easy and effective tool for economic warfare” have been issued. They’ve included detailed instructions for constructing remote-controlled “ember bombs, and how to set fires without leaving a trace.”

I tend to think some of these fires are being purposely set .....and that not by Americans.

....Repeating your post because it is so true!....

...”The problem is that in the thirty or so years since forests were actually managed here in Washington State the top management has all been replaced with people whose environmentalism indoctrination in school was all anti-forest management.”.....

My son was cutting some bad trees on his property when his daughter came running out full of tears, frantic and crying.....”Stop stop you’re hurting the trees!”....She had been taught at school trees have “feelings”....and we had to stop killing them.

THAT is what she learned in school!

My thoughts exactly. We often get forest fires up here, but this year is crazy.

All the attention is on Texas and Florida.

If ya meant the media you would have stated as much. Btw, did you see all the media links for the fires on the thread? Did ya know the media out west are spending a significant amount of time covering the fires? Including millions who are close to numerous fires who are paying very close attention. Then throw in millions more are choking on all the fires even thought they might be hundreds of miles away from them.

I would guess whatever people are closer to, an approaching hurricane or the numerous wild fires, that's what they're paying attention to. Same with the media for the most part.

I ran into poison oak years ago while on vacation in Big Sur, CA. Started on thigh, and when it started creeping up onto my face, I .flew back to Chicago, lay on the floor naked on a sheet in very cold air conditioning for days and days...if you bathe in hot water, it spreads and gets more intense.

I had wool slacks on when I flew back, sent them to dry cleaners immediately. When I put them on a year later, I got another case of PO, had to throw them out.
Vicious stuff, poison oak.

Unbelievable images as Moffett Creek burns from Eagle Creek ...started by two kids ....hopefully the teens that thought it was funny throwing firecrackers off a ridge will feel the pains of getting arrested....
