The U.S. would lose billions and billions of dollars in trade put at least a couple million people out of work. But who cares.

Everything we ship to China has a customer somewhere either in the USA or on the world market. It is not zero sum game.

Short term it basically is a zero sum game. It would also cause havoc in the world markets. It won’t come to it, but China owns trillions of dollars of our debt. They could threaten to sell but that puts the world down the tube.
Gonna need to find someone else to buy $21 billion of our soybeans next year. It will be a rough ride if you are in agriculture.
That said, it won’t happen.
