now tracking much further south than prior forecasts ... if it shoots the gap between cuba and florida and goes into the gulf this could get really nasty

Hmmmmm......
They always seem to go West.
That seems to be a constant.

Joe Bastardi tweet from early this morning: Highly unlikely US does not get hit by Irma
Most likely US target FLA. after southern Bahamas, perhaps Cuba. PR/VI escape worst
The rest of his timeline today (@BigJoeBastardi) is rife with comparisons to the track of hurricane Donna from 1960.

Yeah, a gulf storm would be really nasty.

The silver lining is that it looks like a direct hit on the capital of the communist paradise. Perfect excuse for an invasion of the island by the Cajun Navy.

Pulled out the generator to make sure it’s up and running...
Bought some more extension cords...
Got 25 gallons of fuel...
Got some cases of water...
Ready to rumble...
Don’t forget to clean the guns and check ammo supply.

I wonder if Cuba will try to use their sonic ray on it

So far, all of the models (like literally
all of them right now) keep Irma out of the Gulf... almost as if there was a wall blocking it into a forced 90° right turn.

Local Publix is down to bubbling and imported waters. Hard to find fuel containers in many places, and plywood is flying off the shelves. I’m in the Tampa Bay area. People are paying attention, esp. after Harvey.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a track forecast with a 90 degree turn.

It’s because the SE is about to have the protection of a cold front over it.
The high pressure bubble will suck the low pressure system northward as soon as it gets anywhere near it.

I’m getting a tad nervous in Mobile, Al. Starting a planning plan.

If it gets into the Gulf you can bet people will be prepared. Ai least it won’t hit Houston. There’s a cold front coming in that will push it away. Of course, the cold front could stall.

I'm planning on getting a hand drill for my water. Huh? Easy. Hurricanes knock lots of coconuts off trees. Just grab a few and drill a hole for coconut water. Oh, and hand powered because electricity will probably be out.
p.s. Then open coconuts and eat for food.
