Google has announced they will be doubling down on their Orwellian practice of making STORIES disappear from their monopolistic search engine. Far be it from me to defend Google. I hate them. But it looks like they've only removed 400 stories they don't approve of, not 400 websites. Is that correct or have I misread something? If not, I'd be interested in knowing exactly what those 400 stories are.

Perhaps these sites are on their “heavily monitored” list, and they selectively choose which stories to include in their search and which ones they want to censor. It is hard to tell by just doing a sample story search because it might not be one of their censored stories. I don’t know.

My understanding is that they are not preventing you from going to these sites. They are merely not indexing them so that their stories do not show up in a Google search. The stories are still there, it's just that you can't find them with Google.
