TRENTON, Nov. 29— Democrats today abandoned their effort to keep Christine Todd Whitman from becoming governor of New Jersey, acknowledging that they had found no proof that she won the election because of efforts to suppress minority voting.
From the start the Democrats had acknowledged that their civil suit was a long shot with only the slimmest of chances of preventing the Jan. 18 inauguration of the first woman ever elected Governor of New Jersey.
Still the decision to back off from the suit, a week before a judge was scheduled to rule, was important both legally and politically for Mrs. Whitman, who has been fighting to keep her transition effort on track amid the controversy.

It seems whenever Democrats lose elections, they always get upset and try to overturn it. This has been happening for decades it seems.

With the Democrats beating up Trump supporters this precedent might come in handy in 2020.
Considering how she governed, it’s hard to claim the Democrats lost anything by backing off.
Too bad Whitman was an awful liberal Republican.

I’ll say. She gave the Democrats back power in NJ on a silver platter. Horrible woman.
